Red Alert 3 Patch 1.05 removes DRM protection, adds WorldBuilder

Command & Conquer Red Alert 3Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 for the PC has gotten it’s first major update in the form of Patch 1.05.

The biggest news to come out of this new patch is the fact that it will completely remove the DRM protection built into the game. This will allow you to install the game on an unlimited number of computers. Of course, you still need the actual game in the drive to play it, but this is a huge step for EA given all the trouble that the Spore DRM caused them. Hopefully they will follow-up with a patch for Spore that removes DRM from that game.

Also in this patch is a new WorldBuilder tool. This powerful tool allows you complete creative control to make the ultimate multiplayer or skirmish map.

Also included in the patch are a number of technical bug fixes and balancing fixes across all of the game’s three factions. Give the official Red Alert 3 web-site a look for the full notes for the patch and to download it.
