Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat Wii gets updates

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat for GameCubeNintendo is bringing Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat to Wii as part of its “Play It On Wii” series of GameCube games that it is porting to the Wii. Thankfully though, it seems that Nintendo may be updating them to a degree and not simply porting them over wholesale.

For Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Nintendo has replaced the Bongo drums with Wii Remote and Nunchuck controls, including turning the game into a traditional platformer as you now control DK with the Control Stick on the nunchuck instead of hitting the Bongos left or right like before, or having to use motion controls to mimic the bongos.

In addition, Nintendo has changed the gimmicks found in each stage, will be repositioning enemies and has added mid-level checkpoints.

Best of all, they have added some all new stages to the game!

As far as the controls are concerned, the A Button jumps and the control stick moves as mentioned above. Motion controls are used for some of the moves such as punching enemies and performing continuous jumps.

In addition to DK: Jungle Beat, a Wii version of Pikmin is also coming. Famitsu revealed that there isn’t any new content being added to that game that they know of. The only addition so far is Wii Remote and Nunchuck support, so you can order your Pikmin around with the pointer to make things easier, as would be expected. So it seems that Nintendo will be adding stuff on a per-game basis, and thus some games may in fact be direct ports.
