Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (MK vs DCU for short) is the upcoming 8th game in the Mortal Kombat franchise. And as you probably have heard by now, the game pits the beloved Mortal Kombat fighters against the equally beloved DC comics superheroes including American icons like Superman, Batman and Wonder Women and notorious villains such as The Joker, Catwomen and Lex Luthor. See the full list of fighters in our Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe characters list.

Additionally, the game includes fatalities and “brutalities” (from the DC heroes, who can’t kill) and a complete revamping of the MK fighting engine along with new features such as the ability to fight while dropping through environments (Free-Fall Kombat), “Close Kombat” (pulling the view in for a hit-by-hit attack/counter-attack mini-battle) and a new “Test-Your-Might” where you can charge your opponent and ram him through a building or other environmental object. It also includes full online play.

X-Play went hands-on with Mortal Kombat versus DC Universe with MK-creator and MK vs DCU producer Ed Boon for an in-depth look at what makes this game so special.

MK vs DCU releases on November 16th, 2008 in the U.S. (November 21 in Europe) for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
