On the PAL Wii Virtual Console today: Sega Master System debuts with Wonder Boy and Fantasy Zone. Plus Impossible Mission and California Games on Commodore 64

Get a Wii Points Card at Amazon UKToday Nintendo of Europe (and Australia) added new classic games to the popular Wii Shop Channel. The games went live at midnight CET. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at stores like Amazon UK (Card).

Today PAL regions see the debut of the Sega Master System emulating Wonder Boy and Fantasy Zone on the Wii. Plus the so far Europe-exclusive Commodore 64 emulation gets the classics Impossible Missions and California Games. We’ve included videos of each of today’s games for nostalgia’s sake or so you can see if it’s for you.

This week’s new games are:

Wonder Boy on Sega Master SystemWonder Boy (priced 500 Wii Points = €5 / £3.75 / AU$7.50). As Tom-Tom the Wonder Boy, it’s up to you to rescue your girlfriend Tanya from the vile clutches of the monster that has kidnapped her. To do so, you must navigate a series of worlds in a race against time to reach your goal. Along the way, you’ll battle foes and collect fruit that will add to the amount of time you have to complete your mission. You can also receive helpful power-ups from various eggs, but make sure to avoid the bad eggs and poisonous mushrooms that sap your precious vitality. Find the magic doll in each level to open up hidden areas, and make it to the very end of your journey to rescue your one true love.

Fantasy Zone on Sega Master SystemFantasy Zone (priced 500 Wii Points = €5 / £3.75 / AU$7.50): is a quirky, colorful shoot ’em up. Fantasy Zone pits you as Opa-Opa, a living spaceship, against waves of wacky enemies, collecting coins as you go. Visit the shop to kit out your craft with more powerful weapons, and engage the enormous bosses on more even terms!

Impossible Mission on Commodore 64Impossible Mission (priced 500 Wii Points = €5 / £3.75). Evil genius Professor Elvin Atombender plans to destroy the world. As a lone agent, you must infiltrate his stronghold, avoid enemy robots, and piece together the secret code that can avert Armageddon! This C64 classic mixes action and puzzle-solving, and became one of the biggest hits of the 8-bit era.

California Games on Commodore 64California Games (priced 500 Wii Points = €5 / £3.75). Go back to the 80s with this ‘totally tubular’ collection of sun-soaked sports games. Try your hand at surfing. skateboarding, BMX biking, roller skating and more, either solo or in competition with up to seven friends. ‘Awesome, dude!’
